Sadly, I've always had problems with facial hair. It took a very long time for it to develop and even now, at the age of 26, I cannot grow a good mustache. The rest of my facial hair is fine and matches the color of my hair, which is dark blonde, I would say. But the mustache comes in a platinum blonde color, basically making it unnoticeable from great distances. For a very long time I've wanted to be able to grow a beard so that the mustache would show up and match with the rest of the beard.
This is how it normally looks - as you can see, the mustache is much lighter and you can barely see it!
Anyway, this weekend I decided to buy Just For Men brush-in gel for beards. I bought the 'light brown color,' which, according to the guy on the box, looked like my hair color.
I followed the instructions (ok, perhaps I put in a little more color than suggested) and applied this gel to my mustache and waited for the 5 minutes. When I washed the stuff off my mustache was black!
This re-creation actually doesn't do justice to how silly the black mustache looked
The mustache was very black. It basically looked like the color of the 'jet black' shade:
Anyway, I had to shave everything off. In a week I'm going to try again with a lighter shade. Also, I'll more carefully follow the recommended guidelines. This is what I'm hoping to achieve...
What a nice beard - the mustache matches so well!
