Last night was a very interesting and exciting night in the world of pants and food. I went to the TimeWarner Center (for the second time that day - see my post on macaroons) to see Paula Deen, the Food Network star cook. I like her but I've never been an enormous fan or anything. I just thought it would be fun to go and see her.
Anyway, I was meeting my friend at Whole Foods before the event, which was at the Border's upstairs. I called my friend but she didn't pick up so I was just sort of walking around Whole Foods when I came across something surprising, to say the least. To be honest, when I first saw it I thought I was imagining the whole thing, and I almost had a panic attack because I thought I was going crazy. I asked a lady who looked like a goat for visual confirmation, and she validated what I was seeing (of course, she may have been a figment of my imagination as well, but let's not go there).
I'm just going to say this: the Whole Foods in the TimeWarner Center sells pants. Yes, that's right - pants. What type of pants, you ask? Jeans. Unfortunately I can't be more specific as of right now in terms of fit, like are they regular fit or relaxed fit or lowrise boot fit? I just don't know. I was a bit intimidated and wasn't prepared to go into the new section of the store that sells the pants (they also sells t-shirts and fanny packs and maybe socks and other items).
You can see the shelves lined with denim pants
I am sorry I cannot be more informative at this point, but I do believe this is pretty breaking news and I don't think any other news service has caught onto this story yet. I'm going to go out on a limb and claim that Food & Pants/Pants & Food is the first outlet to break this amazing scoop. As Drudge would say, developing...
After coming to my senses I found my friend and we went up to Border's to see Paula Deen. We were quite early so we got really great seats. It became pretty packed. At almost the time Paulda was supposed to appear, some VIP entered and sat in a reserved area. One of these people was Katie Lee Joel, the third wife of Billy Joel, and ex host of Top Chef on Bravo. She was rather good looking.
So Paula came in and took questions and was really a lovely lady. Very warm and all that. Her husband was with her, as were here two sons, and I didn't know this, but I think her sons have some sort of show on Food Network, as well. The whole family seemed pretty nice. Mr. and Mrs. Dean both mentioned that they love Peter Luger Steakhouse, the venerable Williamsburg, Brooklyn establishment.
That would be Paula
That would be Paula's husband, who is probably what some would refer to as the cutest man in the world
It was a heartwarming discussion. And what a heartwarming night. Pants at Whole Foods. A popular lover of food and her cute and jolly husband. Just spectacular.
Bye!
